In June of 2006 the book, "A Century of Culleoka Memories" was published by Sylvia Gray and the late Lana McCandless. All the proceeds were used to begin the scholarship fund for Culleoka High School Seniors. The copyrights to the book belong to CASA.
The Board of Directors set up a 501c3 in order to be a non-profit entity in 2009. CASA is a separate entity from the Culleoka Alumni Association.
As of 2018 twelve scholarships have been awarded. In 2007 the first scholarship was given in the amount of $500. In 2017 the amount given was $2500. This is attributable to the generous donations over the years. Recipients are chosen by a point system with the identities being hidden until the finalist is chosen.
The Board of Directors serves two year terms with two members rolling off most years. They can be elected to serve another term. If interested in serving, please contact us.
The objective of the Board is to increase the invested funds so they will sustain the annual scholarships through the interest to preserve the principal.
One way to meet these objectives is through annual fundraisers. Past fundraisers have been BBQ meals, t-shirts, fish fry's, calendars, book sales and auctions. If you would like to sponsor or lead a fundraiser please contact us.
